Frameless Bifolding doors in a house made of straw!

Our frameless bifolding doors have been used in a much publicised house made of straw. These unique houses are the brainchild of Brian White.

Brian Waite came up with an innovative way of building houses whilst at the same time keeping costs down. The result is a unique house made of straw.

A Unique house featuring unique bifolding doors.

This affordable strawbale house has recently been featured in Countryside Magazine. Originally publicised in 2012, it’s taken three years for the project to become a reality.

The houses made of straw are being built in Scotland and will be primarily be used as luxury holiday homes.

However, more and more people in Scotland are finding out about this eco friendly, affordable and attractive houses that have natural materials as well as featuring our frameless bifolding doors.

According to the builder, there has also been interest from as far afield as Hawaii!

The property features an eco-friendly specification.  It’s a  13 metre long and 6.5 metre wide two-storey construction from cruck-frame timber.  Curved I beams form the supporting joists with each frame segment filled with insulating straw bales. These are then rendered on the outside, lime plastered on the inside and covered with exterior tiles.

With such an idyllic location, it was important for anyone living in this home to enjoy the stunning views.  This is where Frameless Glass Curtains came in.

The property features our unique and bespoke frameless bifolding doors that offer the most fantastic views from the open plan first floor.

It is on the first floor that the living, dining and kitchen areas are located.  All of these benefit from the uninterrupted views and virtually invisible sight lines that our doors provide.

I had been looking for some time to replace my patio doors in our lounge as they had very wide plastic frames and wanted something that wouldn’t restrict the view up the garden I asked to see if it was possible to view some already installed close by. Luckily there was, we went and viewed and was very impressed. I’ve seen lots of companies do bi-fold and there is actually one that is on the

Serrvice. Good, old-fashioned service. Your team turned up a day early. And were courteous , efficient and helpful. That doesn’t happen too often

Couldn’t be happier with the product, it really has enhanced the vision that we had for our lounge and our garden. I was also so impressed with the manner and knowledge of your fitters who were not only very engaging but were also so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the item they were installing. It clearly wasn’t just about a job, it just seemed to be about the ethos of the company, your management and the

These frameless glass walls have made a huge difference to our comfort at home. They are installed between our living rooms and conservatory. When open, they allow heat into the living area on a sunny day (reducing our heating bill) and when shut, they keep the cold and noise out. They are also much better than bi-folds because there are no frames when shut and when open, the amount of space taken is minimal. Installation

I am absolutely thrilled with the finished result. You were straightforward to deal with and visiting your site was appreciated. You gave clear statements regarding specification and developed the product to meet our needs. Installation was at the agreed time and there was reassuring and prompt follow-up as the new design needed refining. The product recommends itself… I’m recommending you… and I would certainly buy again

Our FGC sliding doors were installed in May 2018. Although we have had two relatively minor problems – neither of which stopped the doors from working – FGC have attended very promptly to carry out remedial action. Excellent customer service from head office and excellent service from install technicians. Many visitors comment most favourably on appearance and functionality. Overall rating 10 out of

As to how we were from initial contact (were we polite)?   Very polite and attentive, always got back quickly with answers to queries but there was no hard sell which I really appreciated after being bombarded by calls and contacts from other companies!  The measuring up part seemed more complicated than it needed to be.  The initial drawings and some of the subsequent ones had errors on that I needed to phone and change

We are delighted with our FGC doors even though the construction of the room is still not yet completed – friends and family visiting our new Garden Room are all commenting vey positively on how amazing the doors look. With the beautiful summer we are having, it is a real pleasure to be able to open up the whole of the front of the room, enjoy the garden and let in the warm summer breeze.

We struggled to find a supplier to fit a glass balcony. Frameless Glass however were great – they gave us a clear and competitive quote, turned up when they said they would, and just got on and did the job! Friendly guys, and we love the end result which looks good from the outside, and gives us a lovely uninterrupted view of our garden

When we purchased our house, it had two sets of timber bi fold doors, each spanning an opening of approx. 5m. These caused us a lot of problems with warping through the seasons, and the ration of timber to glass limited the light into the rooms. We therefore replaced them with the frameless curtain system and could not have been happier. We could only be bothered with the faff of struggling to open the timber

Contacted Frameless Glass Curtains (FGC) to have the existing wooden doors into the lounge and dining rooms of our home replaced with clear glass. The reasons being twofold, firstly being to open up the hallway and secondly to make the most of the natural light that floods the rear of our south-facing property. Having taken time to investigate the market, we down-selected FGC to undertake the work; our decision being fully vindicated by the quality
