Colour choices for bifolding doors

One of the advantages of aluminium bifolding doors is the wide availability of colour.

Traditionally white, silver and brown were the most common colours on older aluminium products. Doors and windows would often be fitted in hardwood subframes and choice was generally limited.

Today your new aluminium bifolding doors and windows are available in a huge choice of colours including some you may not be aware about.

Colour choices for bifolding doors.

The powder coating process on aluminium doors has been used for over forty years. As technology has advanced so has powder coating. It is now very environmentally friendly and offers a virtually unlimited choice of colours.

Generally, most colours are chosen from the RAL colour chart. The RAL is now an internationally recognised standard that is widely used in commercial and residential aluminium coating.

There are also other colour “references” available such as Syntha Pulvin and British Standards. These are more widely used commercially but still possible to obtain if their specific colour is what you require. However in the vast majority of cases, RAL numbers provide sufficient choice for most requirements.

Metallic colours for bifolding doors.

Grey is a hugely popular colour for bifolding doors but did you know there are over 20 different shades?Recent advancements have introduced metallic effect colours to polyester powder coating. These, unlike the satin, matt of gloss static colours of the RAL range are metallic in appearance giving a very subtle metal look typical of natural aluminium or silver.

One further addition to the metallic range of colours is a textured finish. This replicates surfaces such as granite, sandstone and general “stone” appearances with a rough surface. This type of powder coated colour has been hugely popular in Europe for several years already.

Anodised Aluminum.

A further choice available to you is anodising. This is not powder coating and has been around far longer. The Anodising process involves oxygen and aluminium having a chemical reaction that creates a film on the natural aluminium. This creates an even more realistic metal look to doors.

Colours available apart from shades of silver include bronze, gold and differing shades of grey and blue to name but a few.

What to remember with powder coated bifolding doors and windows.

It is perfectly possible that your windows may come from a different supplier to your bifolding doors.

In order to ensure a consistent colour match, it is important that that same RAL reference is used but also the same powder manufacturer of the RAL colour. There are several different manufacturers of polyester powder including Interpon, Tiger, Axalta and others. Whilst they all use industry standard colour charts there can be differences in the colours from company to company.

Therefore if you are having aluminium bifolding doors and windows from different suppliers check that they use the same make of powder. This is the best way to ensure that your windows and doors will match.

We also offer a full range of aluminium windows, bifolding and sliding doors,
and front doors as FGC Bespoke Aluminium.

We were only at home for one day following the installation. A courier delivering a parcel admired the porch and asked who built it for us. Success I think.   Mrs J,

As to how we were from initial contact (were we polite)?   Initial contact was great!  You may remember that we first visited one of your existing customers in Henley.  I honestly can’t remember the ladies name but she was really helpful, was happy to invite us round the next evening and was clearly delighted with the finished product.  We subsequently (next weekend) arranged to come over to your manufacturing site and spent some time

The single-glazed frameless glass curtains have transformed our balconies into fabulous enclosed loggias that we can use all the year round to enjoy the sun in all seasons. Being single-glazed, there was no need for planning permission. The fitters were very good, careful, pleasant and courteous. We looked at a cheaper manufacturer but opted for FGC because of the superior quality of the frameless doors. We are confident that the value of our property has

I am very happy with the doors – I saw them last night after work – though I didn’t open them as I wanted to make sure I followed the installers’ instructions not to. They look wonderful and my boyfriend and mum tell me they were absolutely lovely chaps. The finish seems brilliant and appears to be a huge improvement on the last installation. Ms Warren, London

We moved last year and wanted to maximise the view right through from the rear to the front of the building, overlooking the river. After much searching we found FGC, who installed internal glass doors between the rooms. FGC were very efficient and although we are in the North they sorted out a subsequent small problem promptly. FGC are not cheap but they had what we wanted and we’re delighted with

We are both delighted with the FGC product and have no issues with any future viewings. From our perspective the “outside has truly come inside”, we use the decking on a daily basis as the FGC curtains have transformed the house which I think adds a significant value to the property. The only trouble now is that when we see home improvement programs such as Grand Designs where they suggest using bi-fold doors we end

From the first moment of making contact we were given a very personal and friendly service. The survey, fitting and installation were all carried out by helpful and pleasant people. Follow up service was equally good. I am extremely pleased with the
