Single Glazed Doors Technical Specification

Our single glazed doors are perfect for internal use, balcony enclosures, commercial partitions and room dividers. Using high quality components and safety glass, they come with high performance and long-service life.

Single glazed doors don’t rely on the more stringent thermal and other specifications of our double glazed exterior patio doors.  However, we design and manufacture your doors to give the best possible user experience wherever you choose to have them in your home.

Design Specification

On Single glazed units, all glass used is 10mm or 12mm toughened with BS Kite mark and is polished on long edges. Schlegel is fitted between doors or you can have a clear PVC seals, which give a complete weatherproof seal. The tracks and profiles are made of aluminium produced in the United Kingdom.

The profiles on doors are connected to the tracks by means of a flag, including spacers which slide inside along the tracks. The tracks contains top and bottom turning mechanisms which automatically tell us where the doors are to open. Doors can only be opened at gates, which are 6mm by 5mm, which makes them extremely secure.

The door locking mechanism is a stainless steel (satin or polished) privacy lock or a poppit which is opened by pulling a clear acrylic bar towards you.

The framework is produced from powder coated aluminium, manufactured in the UK and can be supplied in any RAL colour you specify. The sides are sealed with a grey PVC plastic.

How our single glazed doors slide and fold.

All doors slide on PTFE (Pure Teflon), and all the weight is at the bottom, it doesn’t hang, there are no wheels, and it slides by kinetic energy. You can only open the doors when they are in the correct position at the gate, which are in the first door opening only and are 6mm wide x 5mm deep. There is a turning mechanism in the top and bottom track, on which the flags fit into. This allows you to open each door as it automatically touches and locks into position. Once open the doors stack neatly side by side with just 5mm between each door, with the profile being 40mm wide. Doors can stack all one side or both sides any combination.

Basically the installation itself was done pretty quickly and efficiently – three guys turned up early in the morning and were done by lunchtime. Polite, tidy.

As to how we were from initial contact (were we polite)?   Very polite and attentive, always got back quickly with answers to queries but there was no hard sell which I really appreciated after being bombarded by calls and contacts from other companies!  The measuring up part seemed more complicated than it needed to be.  The initial drawings and some of the subsequent ones had errors on that I needed to phone and change

We used FGC to manufacture and install frameless glass doors on all three sides of a large terrace bay. The design was complex and required a flexible and innovative approach to their existing designs. The result was outstanding – clear uninterrupted views over the countryside and a flexible opening pattern which allows fresh air no matter the weather. FGC worked well with the architects and builders on this major project and have provided a responsive

We had been looking for ages for the solution to fill two large spaces leading from the house to our new Orangery. From the moment Gary showed us the product at Partridge Farm we knew it was just what we wanted. A year later and we are still delighted. We broke one of the glass handles the other day and they have just left after fixing a replacement FOC. Hows that for service?

I was very impressed with your facilties and how all the aspects of my purchase were explained. Your installers were thorough and polite and finished off the installation well, and would have no problem in reccommending you to others. Your aftercare was very good and prompt. All in alll very impressed with the doors and very pleased with my purchase. All my friends would like to be able to afford these kind of doors.

Thank you again for the doors, we’re very happy with them and, once the renderer has finished (hopefully tomorrow), we’re really looking forward to removing the plastic protection so we can see through them properly. Mr B,

Regarding your service I would like to make the following comments Web site, initial contact and service My wife saw a product similar to FGC Glass Curtains whilst on holiday. After undertaking a lot of searching on the internet we came across FGC. FGC offered a product we could not find anywhere else, i.e. a true frameless glass product, no side borders, only the top and bottom running rails. The product looked as if you

We had a small issue with the opening door, we contacted FGC and they arranged for a team to come. They sorted the issue very quickly then cleaned the runners and door seals, fully tested the operation of the doors and carried an additional mod on the door handle. All done and dusted with an hour. Great

When it has been sunny we have made full use of the new doors and they have transformed our relationship with the outdoor space. The design and colour of the doors has modernised the look of the back of the house especially now we do not have lashings of uPVC everywhere. We were very happy with the service from start to finish. It was refreshing to meet a boss of a company who was honest

I am quite happy to recommend your company to any prospective clients. You have my contact details and you can pass them on if you wish. We are also happy to be on your list of completed installations.   The installation team were very good clean, tidy and polite.   It all started with our visit to you and  we are very impressed with your company.

As to how we were from initial contact (were we polite)?   Initial contact was great!  You may remember that we first visited one of your existing customers in Henley.  I honestly can’t remember the ladies name but she was really helpful, was happy to invite us round the next evening and was clearly delighted with the finished product.  We subsequently (next weekend) arranged to come over to your manufacturing site and spent some time
