The slide, turn and fold arrangement of a frameless glass door offers several advantages compared to a conventional bifolding door. For this reason and others that we explain below, we believe that frameless bifolding doors are better than most other choices.
Some properties are very limited on outside space and often a sliding door will be preferred over a folding type because of its inline nature. Sliding doors move within their frame and do not need to project in or out in order to fully open like a folding door has to.
Space saving advantages of frameless bifolding doors.
Our frameless glass doors provide several advantages over both folding doors and sliding doors and especially where outside space is limited. We believe that our doors provide you with functionality and versatility you will not find on either a standard folding door or an inline sliding patio door.
Frameless bifolding doors have an access leaf as standard.
Before buying a typical aluminium bifold, you are required to configure it. This means you need to choose whether the doors are to open in or out, slide to the left or slide to the right. Our doors are the same.
However, you will also need to consider whether you require an ‘access leaf’. An access leaf (or traffic door) is a hinged door leaf that enables you to use the doors as you would a normal door to get in and out.
Standard bifolds have to be configured with an access leaf. With most designs, the access leaf sits independently away from the remaining leaves. In practical terms, you have a stand-alone single door on the one side of your opening and all you other door panels folded back on the other side.
Frameless glass doors do not need to be configured with an access leaf. Their clever design gives you this important entry and exit point as standard and as part of the design. The advantage with our doors is that you can still have an access leaf and have all your doors folded back on the one side only.
Frameless bifolding doors provide ventilation with no loss of space.
One of the compromises with concertina type folding doors is that they provide ventilation but with a loss of space. To ventilate a room you often have to fold the doors without fully opening them.
Frameless glass doors work differently. You can open the traffic door and then slide each panel anywhere you like to provide ventilation. This method also saves you space because the doors are not projecting in or out in a half-folded position.
The biggest advantage with a frameless glass door is that you do not have to lose valuable floor space to allow for the unobstructed clear area standard doors need to open and close. Our doors enable you to even position garden furniture outside, or a dining table or sofa inside, right up to the middle panels.
All your space, large or small, is utilised better. On a regular bifold you can only place furniture on the opposite side of the direction the doors open in.
Frameless glass doors give you improved comfort.
Picture yourself on a summer evening sitting inside with your open bifolding doors. Perhaps it is getting cooler outside, or there is a mild breeze?
The independent action of each door panel on a frameless door gives you more control. If there is a slight breeze, you can slide the panels in front of your table or sofa to act as a barrier from the wind while leaving the other side of the doors open for your children or pets to come in and out as they wish.
You can use our frameless doors in a partially open or closed position that you cannot do with most standard designs of other doors. Simply put, the unique slide and turn action of our doors gives you more opening configurations and a more flexible door. The panels are opened and closed and positioned where you want them, not how the design dictates.
