Our frameless bifolding doors have been used in a much publicised house made of straw. These unique houses are the brainchild of Brian White.
Brian Waite came up with an innovative way of building houses whilst at the same time keeping costs down. The result is a unique house made of straw.
A Unique house featuring unique bifolding doors.
This affordable strawbale house has recently been featured in Countryside Magazine. Originally publicised in 2012, it’s taken three years for the project to become a reality.
The houses made of straw are being built in Scotland and will be primarily be used as luxury holiday homes.
However, more and more people in Scotland are finding out about this eco friendly, affordable and attractive houses that have natural materials as well as featuring our frameless bifolding doors.
According to the builder, there has also been interest from as far afield as Hawaii!
The property features an eco-friendly specification. It’s a 13 metre long and 6.5 metre wide two-storey construction from cruck-frame timber. Curved I beams form the supporting joists with each frame segment filled with insulating straw bales. These are then rendered on the outside, lime plastered on the inside and covered with exterior tiles.
With such an idyllic location, it was important for anyone living in this home to enjoy the stunning views. This is where Frameless Glass Curtains came in.
The property features our unique and bespoke frameless bifolding doors that offer the most fantastic views from the open plan first floor.
It is on the first floor that the living, dining and kitchen areas are located. All of these benefit from the uninterrupted views and virtually invisible sight lines that our doors provide.
